The Handwritten Note
December 8, 2008 – 7:53 am
I opened my mailbox and, much to my delight, inside was a handwritten postcard. And it was legitimate – not one of those mass-produced, faux handwritten postcards. It was from a doctor’s office. And it made my day.
These days with email, text messaging and social networking sites, the personal touch of customer service – of life – is often lost. Many businesses are taking the electronic route to communicate with patients because it’s efficient. While I do believe the electronic ways of marketing a practice are incredibly effective, I also think you should occasionally take the time to bring back the personal charm.
So, if you notice any of your employees have a few extra minutes, ask them to write short notes to a few patients, wishing them well and thanking them for coming to your practice.
And who knows? It might just make a patient’s day.
