The Disappearing Act: Month 1
May 16, 2008 – 1:22 pm
When I found out Medical Arts Press is going to offer degradable plastic bags, I was instantly fascinated. These bags are supposed to degrade after approximately one year. The plastic will become brittle and quickly disintegrate into brittle flakes, which do not create methane in landfills. To me, it sounds too good to be true so I have decided to conduct an experiment to monitor the degradation process of these bags. I have three samples of the degradable plastic bag.
-
Sample 1 sits at my desk.
-
Sample 2 is periodically being used.
- Sample 3 is on the roof of our building weathering the elements
Each month I will be posting new pictures of the bags and updating their status in the degradation process. Together we will watch these bags disappear.
